Wisconsin and Minnesoooooota are not homogeneous states for red or blue. There are very large portions that are very red, and metro areas that run blue. The difference is that Minnesoooooota's red areas don't have good options for annexation to an adjacent state. Iowans move to Minnesoooooota, not the other way around. Who wants to move to Iowa??? Most Iowans don't even know how to drive, and if they do, they drive to Minnesoooooota to escape Iowa!

That’s true of most of the states. Even Texas is 55/45.

Though it makes for fun talking points, MTG, Hannity, Davis, and the writers at the Nation are smart enough to realize that this is a practical impossibility.

Well, most some of them are smart enough.

            Yes, fun points.

It seems easy to make a case to Red voters.

But there are at least a million questions that Mr. Hannity has not addressed. But still a good start.

Is there a case to be made to blue voters?

I don't think there's any doubt which side would thrive more as a society, just as a thought experiment. The conservative culture is the soil in which the progressive weed grows. One needs the other, but not vice versa.

@jon-nyc Absolutely true, though not always as clearly geographically separated, nor with Iowa looming to the south.

Did you know the highest elevation in Iowa is 1,670 feet? It's often mistakenly described as natural. It was partly natural, and then two farmers decided to make it more spectacular by adding more dirt.

Oh wait, in Iowa it might actually be considered natural to do something like that.

The locals are very proud of their impressive high elevation site. Really.

Hubby's brother married an Iowa gal. Her parents were so proud to take him to see this amazing site. After they arrived, he looked around and asked where it was. The new in-laws replied, " It's right here! You're standing on it!"

Yes, one look at Kazakhstan and Singapore should remove all doubt.

When contemporary American conservatives colonized those two countries, we were warned what might happen, by contemporary American leftists. Actually I think Singapore turned out pretty well. One of our best imperial expansions of American conservatism.

While we're at highest points, Ohio is nearly as high as Iowa, and much closer to the Atlantic.
