This sort of behavior follows, once you accept that millions of leftist tribalists believe that Republicans represent an existential threat.
To not act this way would, in fact, be cowardly and despicable. One must draw one's line in the sand, or accept partial culpability for the existential consequences.
This is why it's so ridiculous to engage in existential threat narratives. It paints you into this corner where you have to behave as if the other tribe really is an existential threat. This True Believer earns points for walking the walk, I guess.

As a reminder, just in case this isn’t a straw man and you actually believe your point is valid, neither the photographers nor the bakers in these cases refused service to same-sex couples. What they did choose to do was not participate in a service that runs contrary to their religious beliefs. You do see the difference, right? The bakers would gladly have provided a birthday cake for the couple. The photographer would gladly do portraits for the couple or headshots, etc…
Now if you want to ask if these two groups support private businesses being allowed to not participate in a special service that is specifically contrary to their religious beliefs, then I would have to answer that I have no idea whether SCOTUS was present.
