This guy takes a deep dive, a REALLY deep dive, into Karen Carpenter's voice. He looks at a live performance and compares it to the recording that was released.
He uses some software to isolate her voice and look at whether or not she is on pitch.
tl;dw - She was remarkable in terms of being on pitch - every single time.

Anf if you like this kind of geeky singer stuff, he does Sinatra.
His channel defines "YouTube rabbit hole." He has hundreds of videos looking at everything from Doris Day to Bon Jovi.

I've seen a few of his videos. Some, like the Carpenter video, are pretty interesting.
My opinion, but my definition of a truly good singer, or an especially good band, is when they can produce live on stage, something approaching the perfection of the studio.

I won't disagree with you on that one. In another video he talks about the Milli Vanilli controversy. Specifically, he gets into how, today, everything is staged, and not real in the performance - the amps are hooked up, the mics are positioned above the drum kit, and what the audience hears is a backing track. And the problem is, the audience doesn't know.
Larry used to talk about that stuff.
