JMS is J. Michael Straczynski. He is a screenwriter and prolific internet guy. He is the creator of Babylon 5, one of the first serialized TV shows.

Other credits include working with Marvel for The Amazing Spider Man series, Sense8, The Real Ghostbusters and many other projects.

I follow him on Twitter because of rumors of a reboot of Babylon 5 (one of @Doctor-Phibes favorites).

Anyhow, he said this the other day:

"I'm a big believer in physical media, otherwise you're held hostage to whatever someone else thinks you should have access to. I went to show a friend On the Beach and not one legit streamer/cable net had it, couldn't even buy it on Itunes or Amazon. Fortunately I had my own copy."

"Now look here, you Baltic gas passer... " - Mik, 6/14/08

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Okay…Does he have a copy of every single film ever made? There are always going to be limitations.

        Of course.

I don't own every recording of the WTC, I'm not @kluurs. But it used to be that if I wanted one, I could find it. Years ago I was looking for a string quartet written by Robert Greenberg. None of the usual suspects had it. I found it online in a shop in Montreal - they shipped. That wouldn't happen today.

We’re you looking for a recording or the sheet music?

At the time (must've been 2003 or so), I would have taken any performance. It seems that the only one out there is the Alexander String Quartet's recording.

Yeah, it was green-lit about a year ago, but has been in limbo since a shakeup at the host network (The CW?). So, nothing yet.

Get Score Scan software, add on Garritan Personal Orchestra, and take a little time to make your own edits to tempo, dynamics, and such…

Or do like I prefer, buy the score, then record each of the parts on a CVP809 and enjoy…

And there are about 25 different sites that can ship to you the cd within a week. There are ALOT of first world problems these days, but the ability to find any desired published media is not one of them. I like JMS, but wow is he off on this.

LOL, okay. I just pulled up the score from the site, myself. Any particular artist rendition that you were looking for?

At the time (must've been 2003 or so), I would have taken any performance. It seems that the only one out there is the Alexander String Quartet's recording.

Idagio has it available by the way. This is the CD I purchased.

                            https://app.idagio.com/albums/sur-pointe

Get Score Scan software, add on Garritan Personal Orchestra, and take a little time to make your own edits to tempo, dynamics, and such…

Or do like I prefer, buy the score, then record each of the parts on a CVP809 and enjoy…

And there are about 25 different sites that can ship to you the cd within a week. There are ALOT of first world problems these days, but the ability to find any desired published media is not one of them. I like JMS, but wow is he off on this.

He was talking about movies. Not music.

                            Please love yourself.

I still acquire some CDs but not very often. Though I have my sights on a boxed set of Walter Gieseking's music that I might acquire. I never purchase DVDs though there are some films that are only available on that media.
