Hey Mark! And other PC geeks

I got the boy a second monitor for his PC. The monitor came with an HDMI cable but his RTX 3070 only has one HDMI port (but three DP ports).
Seems like my options are to buy a DP cable (since that is also supported by the monitor) or buy a DP to HDMI adapter and use the cable I have.
Which is preferred?
And, in general, will the second monitor have any limitations on account of using the DP rather than HDMI on the RTX?

Is there an advantage to display port vs USB-C?
Can you daisy chain with USB-C? On my work laptop I had to use a docking station to drive two monitors.

No. USB, Universal Serial Bus, as the name implies uses the "bus" architecture. So you can attach multiple devices onto the same "bus" but not daisy chaining one device to another.

Not necessarily an advantage, just that "display port" is designed to support one thing -- displays, while USB (including USB-C) is designed to support many different things. So if all you want to do is connect displays, maybe display port the specialist can do a better job than USB the generalist.
