Makes sense but you have to wonder if this is an indication that a lot of people are leaving and tweeting forwarding addresses.
Still people can probably game it. “I’m not leaving Twitter but if I went to mastadon my handle would be the same as here”

So maybe Paul Graham’s (founder of Y combinator and SV royalty) account will be restored.
He didn’t even tweet a link to the competitors. He tweeted a link to his personal web page.

Personally, I think ‘Twitter Musk” is really ChatGPT in a very intensive test of the AI’s capabilities…
