Bari Weiss - The Twitter files, Part 2

Recall at the time, the very word "facts" was political. The good guys knew what "facts" were, and Twitter was unequivocally a good guy.

Tucker is eating this up
It is pretty bad
The twitter employees who did this are trash
The questions will be, did government officials use twitter to prevent free speech? And when will they be put in jail?

Did the government talk to Twitter? Yes.
Did the government say things that were pretty nonspecific? Yes.
Did the government warn about specific things? We don't know. And when will they be put in jail?
Now you're just being silly.
But the revelations tonight about how Twitter out-and-out lied about their behaviors and policies are interesting.

We should just rename every Twitter thread “Bad First Amendment Takes”
Granted you can dunk on the notion that this is a violation of the first amendment per se. Unfortunately for the left, that does not close the whole conversation.

At least this thread is somewhat more revelatory then #1. We all kind of knew ‘shadow banning’ of accounts was a thing, though Twitter denied it. I’m not sure how many people really believed their denials but now we have receipts.
(Let’s remember Elon has announced he’ll retain the ‘shadow ban’ concept but at the tweet level rather than the account level)
I’m waiting for the confirmation that they did stealth removal of followers for disfavored accounts. I saw enough complaints about it, usually with accompanying data, that I’ve always found it credible. Some was probably bot removal, especially back in the day when Trump would complain about it, but I have little doubt that some was real.

I shall continue to dunk, the left be damned.

That's what Sam Harris did when he discussed this issue recently. He's capable of a more nuanced conversation, as I'm sure you are. There are other things about this to discuss beyond whether it is strictly unconstitutional.

@Horace It's not like I bring it up out of the blue, it's only in response to expressed misunderstandings. And the first few times I did it (including in a response to you) I was very polite about it. But it's getting a little old so I confess some snark comes out.
