Someone posted a hack for getting rid of youtube ads.
Simply put a character (like a ".") at the end of the URL and reload.
Poof! Ads gone.
I've tried it with a couple of sites, and it seems to work - for now.
Apparently this is only for desktop machines and laptops. Not for mobile devices.

It appeared to work. It squelched the initial ad. A few minutes into the video, another add.
I have never paid YouTube a red cent. If one does buy into an account, do these ads go away?

Nobody would use Windows 8.
