Established Titles

Established Titles is a company that sponsored videos from some channels I subscribe to on Youtube. For a price, they would sell an "official" title of Lord or Lady from the Scottish government, based on some alleged law about landowners having titles. They would sell a micro-plot of land and the title would come along with it. Somehow tree planting was involved. Now it's come out that this company is a "scam" and some of the content creators are hurriedly recalling videos. What was the best case scenario for this company? Some bureaucrat in the Scottish government monetizing a law loophole? This seems to blur the line between scam and legitimate enterprise to sell stupid people a fantasy that they are welcome to believe if they want to.
One of the creators who was sponsored by Established Titles was Dr Grande, who is in the business of creating content about scams like this. I expect he'll produce a video about the scam along with a mea culpa. "I thought it was a legal scam, not an illegal one".
