Three big diplomat conferences are being held in SE Asia over the next 10 days.

ASEAN summit - Phnom Pehn 8-13Nov
    G-20 Summit - Bali 15-16Nov
    APEC Summit - Bangkok 18-19Nov

President Biden will attend the first two, but not the APEC. VP Harris will attend instead.

As if traffic in Bangkok is not bad enough, next week, will be really a pain to move around BKK. One of the subway stops is at the site of the APEC conference (Queen Sikrit Conference Center). Entrance to the conference center will be a nightmare. Oh well, only for a week. LOL

That's a lot of conferences. Wonder what might come out of it.

Glad to see the renew focus on Asia (and SE Asia) by the US. Did not see President Biden speech live to ASEAN summit, but did read the transcript.

The US was made a "Comprehensive Strategic Partner" of ASEAN.

(Not sure if the above really means anything, butat least the US is raising its diplomacy and visibility in the region)

Am curious about what goes down and comes out of Biden’s meeting with Xi tomorrow. I fully expect what, in diplomatic circles, is euphemistically described as a frank and open discussion.

@Renauda I think you are correct. It has already been announced that there will be no "joint statement" between President Biden and Xi

This photo screams for a caption...the look on Xi's face.

Well, that's a "Mao Jacket." Not sure that Mao Tse Tung belongs in the pantheon of fashion idols I'd like to emulate.

I think the commentator is wrong. My first thought was that it was an Indonesian style shirt/jacket.

And that makes sense, considering that the G-20 is in Bali.

I believe you are correct. It is not a Mao jacket, it is cut more like a Nehru jacket - similar to the one Peter Sellers wore in The Party. Birdie num-nums anyone?
