The irony.
You point out the irony. I'm confused by the accuracy. Over the years, I've had wise, powerful people counsel me on what to say, or not to say, in the political or educational environment. I listened, and learned.
I don't understand how a person, either one of these gents, could not foresee the repercussions of what they were about to do, and then went ahead and did it.
I can confidently call them both stupid, but I'm way way outside their orbit. I use "stupid" in the right way, at the right time, in the right venue. -
I'm sure Captain Crozier understood the likely repercussions of his letter. It seems to me he sacrificed his career for the safety of his men.
