Well, I wasn't waiting on him, surely.

i have to say I did consider voting for Tim Ryan. he ran a very effective campaign in that respect. I don't know that it was an honest campaign, but it was effective.

What swung me to Vance was the debates. As in the primaries, Vance was the adult in the room. He answered questions in a straightforward manner, and it was clear he had spent time becoming educated on the issues and forming cogent positions. Ryan was much more talking points and attempted soundbites.

The most confident prediction one can make about this is that Elon’s “threat” level will veer more firmly into “existential” territory, from the perspective of the mainstream left. Whether it will affect anybody’s vote would be a less confident prediction. I suppose it’s a net positive message for the Republicans though.

To the OP, yes and no. I think it’s an easier case to make that R presidents and D congresses together curb each other’s excesses.

But under D presidents, R congresses like to flirt with and/or create debt ceiling crises and I’m sure the 118th Congress will be no different. It might be as bad as 2011.

Just got this from Democrats.com, which operates a mailing list I got on somehow and haven't seen fit to unsubscribe from.

Just days after savaging Paul Pelosi with rightwing lies, Elon Musk endorsed every Republican Traitor for Congress.

These Traitors voted against certifying the landslide victory of Joe Biden right after MAGA's violent assault on the Capitol on January 6. They willingly joined a GOP coup d'etat to keep Trump in power.

Musk supports Traitors because he's the world's richest man - worth $254 billion - and these Traitors will cut his taxes. Musk now owns Twitter and has 115 million followers who may help him elect Traitors - who will pay for Musk's tax cuts by cutting jobs, health care, education, Social Security, environmental protection - and everything else we urgently need.

So we must stop Elon Musk by making sure every Democrat votes on Tuesday.

            Education is extremely important.

The lefties sure have, shall we say, culturally appropriated patriotism. Unashamedly so. They must love America so much, it hurts their feelings if anybody else doesn't.

So, would you rather have a Dem congress if given a Dem president?

                    Yes.

Thank you. Absent the existential threat of the loss of our democracy, same answer?

I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic.

If there were any democrats left who didn't know what to think about Mr. Musk, they are now informed.

I vote judges, therefore I vote Republican.
