We're gonna put your refineries out of business, but right now we want you to reopen refineries...

In June, Chevron CEO Mike Wirth posited that there would never be another new refinery built in the United States.

“Building a refinery is a multi-billion dollar investment. It may take a decade. We haven’t had a refinery built in the United States since the 1970s. My personal view is that there will never be another refinery built in the United States,” Wirth said at the time.

So we have already initiated the process of switching to EVs.

We have begun to shut down the old industry.

But we have no new industry to take over the workload.

What was that old saw? Scratch a liberal and find a fascist? Tell me again who is a threat to democracy.

And they wonder why the oil companies are circling the wagons… Record profits? Yeah, when the nominal leader of the largest oil producing and consuming nation in the world promises that he’s going shut you down, you’re going to want to stock away what you can when you can. Then he comes hat in hand asking for help?
