It's gloom and doom, but how bad is it?

      It's not good.

        Not good is an understatement.

Diesel is already over $5 eveywhere. $7 diesel would put the inflation monster on steroids.

Another Tucker Carlson 'what's wrong with Russia' diatribe, disguised as something else.

Again, I'm left wondering why he wants to appease the Russians.

Also, trying to present the sanctions against Russia as a 'woke crusade against traditional Christian values' is a pretty disgusting misrepresentation. And that sounded a lot like it was what he was trying to do.

          What's really going on here?

I looked at a graph of US inflation adjust gas prices.

While gas prices are at a maximum high price in history, it is only about 5% higher than seen in 2012. I think Mr Carlson is like the chicken that says the sky is falling.

But of course, if he were calm and rational, he would not have the same number of viewers and mot make as much money. So, for him, it is in his interest to be as gloomy as possible, especially with a Democrat being the President.

TG, prices are not the issue here. Prices don't atter if there isn't any at any price.

I don't think that is going to be the case. If you look at data from the US Energy Information Administration, the "US Percent Utilization of Refinery Opreable Capacity" has not changed much of the past 40 years.

                Refinery Operating Capacity

The data only goes to end of 2021, but looking at data to October 2022 does not show any change.

If we are really going to run out of diesel in a few weeks, civilization will end.

And we need diesel to deliver diesel.

                    Good question.

Perhaps Carlson sees himself as the Charles Lindbergh of our times whose convictions and public addresses as a non-interventionist prior to WWII, led many to believe he was pro-Nazi. That however would imply that Carlson has convictions that go deeper than a superficial grasp of events as they unfold in front of him. I doubt that he has that capability.

On the other hand, perhaps Carlson just chooses to believe everything that comes out of the mouth of Putin and his minions. That would at least explain how Carlson utterly fails to comprehend that the only traditional values Putin represents, are the perverse and distorted values of a former KGB Colonel working for a state that subsisted on conspiracy and coercion.

I think Carlson is making a bad choice. I certainly wouldn’t want to live that way.

                    Elbows up!

Typically, the US has a 32 day supply of diesel. Right now it is 25 days. NBD. Just Carlson being himself. Oil company owner.

I don't think any of y'all own anything that burns diesel, or am I mistaken? To compare diesel consumption and refinery supply from years ago to today is looking at two different items.

Trucks, and a lot of farm equipment, now must have low-sulfur diesel. We can't run a lot of our stuff on what we used to. the diesel we run today is a more highly refined product,

                            And a more expensive product.

A big rig holds somewhere between 250 to 300 gallons, depending on the truck. Average price is now $5.34/gallon.

The question is how high will it go, and when will it happen?

It’s funny, in the uk gas and diesel prices are much the same, but I guess the tax on gas is much higher

For a while, diesel was heavily incentivized over there, but maybe less of late

Of course, nobody’s heard of Tucker in the UK. They have Piers, who’s essentially what TuCa be like if God had had a really bad hangover at the point of divine intervention
