At least you know what caused your red spot and are getting to it early. Hope all goes well.

      Yikes, that indeed sucks.

Other than inflammation and pain at the site, no symptoms?

Like soreness, muscle pain, stiffness? Lots of that... But I am in the middle of building a paver patio and regrading our yard by hand. That’s a lot of dirt being dug and blocks and stone being carried...

What makes this tough is the location. It could just be aggravated because it’s at the waste and and I’ve spent the last two days bending, kneeling, lifting, and sweating.

I grew up in the mountains of Western PA. Done a shit-ton of camping and fishing. Been on scouting trips where everybody else came out with at least one tick, but this is the very first time I’ve ever had one.

No bueno. You might be right though and the infection was caused by sweat, dirt, etc. Especially since it took a week. Did you have it bandaged and disinfect each day?

Doc thinks it’s just an infection, but is sending the tick in to be tested anyway. In the meantime, the antibiotics that he proscribes for a skin infection are the same they use for early stage Lyme. The only difference is length, but the test in the tick will be back by then.

I was good about using disinfectant on it the first two days, but less so since, thinking that it would have healed over by then.

Meh, not that big. In fact, our tick key couldn’t get it. Had to use tweezers.

Was it dark in color? Sounds like a deer tick. In which case I'm glad you're getting it checked out.

@LuFins-Dad Hope the test result is nothing!!

I don't like ticks (but I dont think anybody does).

It is amazing that they can sense your temperature and make the jump from weeds, etc to your body as you walk by.

So the tick wasn't even tested. Apparently it was a type of tick with no known disease associations... It was just a skin infection caused by the bite and me not keeping it covered appropriately. (I really thought that 4 days was good enough)
