Would seem that the Tories themselves are leading the campaign for a Labour majority in the next general election.

BBC is reporting that BoJo is considering another run for the leadership.

They really ought to call a general election now, and let the people vote to decide the leader of the country, rather than a very small group of Tories.

Obviously, that would lead the Conservatives trying to find a leader who can win an election, which might be a bit of a struggle.

This is pretty much David Cameron's fault.

Of course, he's off somewhere raking in the money for doing sweet FA.

Governing by referendum is a really bad idea.

              I think you are right.

As far as I’m concerned referenda have no place in Parliamentary governance.

No kidding. Every statewide election here we have one or two referendums on changing the state constitution for some fad or financial scheme. I make it a rule to vote against them.

In Cameron's case it was him trying to placate the right wing of the party in case they defected to UKIP. He should have told them to FOAD.

Over lunch, somebody said to me that this instability is the big disadvantage of parliamentary systems.

I felt obliged to point out that they get to keep really shitty leaders for at least 4 years, and somehow this is an improvement?

@George-K there's no question who would win an election at this point.

To be honest, I think it's high time the Tories were kicked out. They've done a bloody awful job of late, and since Labour got rid of the Corbyn brigade, they should be a better bet. Keir Starmer is seemingly a charisma-free zone, but charisma didn't seem to help Boris much in governing.

Keir Starmer for some reason, reminds me of the late Desmond Llewelyn - the original Q in Bond movies. Not only facially but voice and mannerisms as well. Couldn’t place it for the longest time until this morning when he was on the BBC giving the Tories a right bollocking for their ineptitude at governing.

Paraphrasing Piers Morgan (who also echo'ed @Doctor-Phibes ' comment about terrible leaders) said that if BoJo is chosen as PM there will be a rush of Brits trying to immigrate to the US for the relative calm and stability of American politics.
