Originally taped in 1988 during the British band's sessions for their 13th album The Miracle, Face It Alone did not make the final cut and was later forgotten.

The song was rediscovered when Queen's production and archive team returned to the sessions to work on an upcoming reissue of the album, which will also include some of the band's conversations on the studio floor in London and Montreux, Switzerland.

It will be the rock group's first new song featuring Mercury to be released in more than eight years, following on from the 2014 Queen Forever album, which included three previously unheard tracks with the singer - Let Me In Your Heart Again, Love Kills and There Must Be More To Life Than This..

Interesting how some music people write many more songs than they use on "albums" and others only write what they release.

Queen if appears did a few more than they released.

(I know alot of people here do not like Bruce Springsteen, but I do. LOL Anyway, I was read one time that for every song he releases, he has written about four others that for whatever reason (did not fit the concept of the "album", etc) he did not release.)

As you say, not unusual, at all.

If you look at Lennon - McCartney's early stuff, there's a lot of songs that he "gave away" to other performers.

"Nobody I Know."
"World Without Love"
"Bad to Me"
"Woman"
"I Don't Want to See You Again."

Also, all of these hits were recorded by only two groups: Peter & Gordon, and Billy J. Kramer."
