The U of A’s Faculty of Education is chock full of kooks. Always has.

But like I have been trying to tell people in this place….

Up here it’s all about Aboriginals - nothing or nobody else matters.

    Elbows up!

You know what, though? I am starting to wonder if the more we white undiverse complain about this sort of thing, the closer we are getting to creating a counterpoint woke tribe of our own.

I am beginning to sniff a holier-than-thou aroma in the air. It's not pleasant.

        Oh my

        Oh Canada.

She is a "deeply empathic" person.

        Oh my...

After finishing high school in St. Albert, Alta., Shariff followed in her parents’ footsteps and received her bachelor of education degree (elementary education) from UAlberta. That was followed by a move to Toronto, where she got her master’s degree in equity education from York University.

Initially, Shariff taught elementary students, but after moving back to Alberta in 2002 she worked with junior high students. Not ready to stop being a student herself, she came back to UAlberta to pursue a PhD in Secondary Education, where her doctoral research examined cultural identities among second generation South Asian Canadian youth and the intersection of identity politics, reading and viewing experiences.

But. @jon-nyc , the question is: WYHT?

              Sounds similar to Rodeo Sex.

You know, the kind of sex you have with a woman in the doggy style position and in the middle of the act you whisper in her ear, You don't screw as well as your mother does.

After that, you must hang on for at least 8 seconds for the ride to be counted...Spur raking is optional, but graded.

The counterpoint to wokeness is not holier than thou. It’s saner than thou. Maybe smarter than thou.

The general pattern is for the left to find the emotionally compelling narratives based on the recent-ish history of oppression and mistreatment of cultures that continue to struggle, right there under everybody’s nose. Then they use those narratives to gather the masses into a tribe of virtuous people who would simply never have done those bad things to those poor people at the time. This virtue tribe also knows exactly who would have done those evil things: the other political tribe. Then they smuggle in all the leftist politics, which are neither here nor there in the fundamental good vs evil racism narrative. What then are the virtuous masses to do, other than agree with the whole bundle of ideas? They already cashed their social acceptability checks for being a mainstream well adjusted anti-racist. Can’t very well refund them now.

                  Education is extremely important.

My favorite quote from Ezra Klein, leading American leftist public intellectual, is that race underpins all of American politics. That is true, exactly to the extent his tribe is successful in teaching people that it is true. It is the perfect encapsulation of how messaging affects perception, and how perception becomes reality. But to Ezra, he is simply uncovering and explaining objective truths, rather than creating social truths on the fly.

Those eyebrows will go out of fashion one of these days.

In the years to come people will look back at them and wonder what they were thinking.
