Interesting article, but it sounds rather like songs that have been sung before.

I didn’t find it interesting at all.
First, we’re still running on incorrect and inappropriate definitions of what poverty means.
Second, the arbitrary line they set for poverty is ridiculous. They point to the child tax credit lifted 30% of families out of poverty. Do you really think a 2 children family going from $23,500 to $24,700 really experienced a substantial improvement in living conditions?
Third, the obstacles are not racial, they are primarily economic. It is incredibly difficult to dig yourself out. By focusing on perceived racial disparities, you won’t solve the problem.

I'd like to see trade school/apprenticeship grants similar to college grants. You want opportunity, you have to support it in a directed way that helps people lift themselves.

They already do. Pell Grants (typically 5-6k) can be used at Trade and Technical schools that typically cost $4K a year.
Want to kill 2 birds with 1 stone? RESTRICT Pell grants to only be used at trade schools or Community Colleges. Once you have successfully completed 2 years you can apply them to a 4-Year School.

Have government policy that encourages families rather than hate them.
Name one government, anywhere in the world and any time in recorded history, that encouraged families.

No, that’s one problem solved. He doesn’t make the claim all problems are solved. Just that one, though it would solve quite a few others, too.

OK, is that one problem solved?

Florida is one. Virginia is trying. I’d say the US right ip to the point that some damn blithering idiots started believing it takes a village to raise a child.

Is the problem solved in Florida?

Yes. Yes it is.
Next time we have a forum get together, remind me to bring some of Finley’s forks and spoons so Ax doesn’t accidentally hurt himself at dinner.

Prior to LBJ things were headed in the right direction.
Then the democrats embraced dementia.
