I learned a new word the other day...

I always thought that it was just the name of a John Wayne character.
Zane Grey uses the word in "Riders of the Purple Sage." I have led such a sheltered life.
noun: a riding whip consisting of a short, stout stock and a lash of braided leather.
verb (used with object): to strike with a quirt.

I reckon you need to find a Lutheran Cowboy Church.
I was at the local cowboy church Monday night for preachin' and they was givin' the announcements... Peacemakers (quick draw and shooting practice) on Saturday and regular Prayer & Practice on Thursday night...P&P this week will focus on barrels and breakaway roping.
Those cowboys and cowgirls do love their horses...

That explains a LOT.
