We are teaching the child the ways of her people, the Suburban Whites of the East. We went apple picking over the weekend.
(It was amazing to me just how many people were there to take selfies to broadcast to whatever social following they think they have that they're going apple picking, instead of actually picking some fucking apples. )
Now, time to make some apple butter. We picked about 4-5 varieties, so should be pretty good.

Nice. I have partaken in this fruit picking activity of which you speak. But never apples. I didn’t know they had variety farms like that. Good idea.

Yeah, the apple farm was inherited by the kids of the family that run the farm proper. The latter is just up the road, and provides basically the same deal: they grow it, you choose and buy it.
The kids do a pretty good job. They have hard cider for the exhausted parents for after they do the what-have-you. Even IPA and pumpkin spice ones because they damn well know their customers.

They had a poutine food truck, which, score. It was in that vicinity I heard this exchange:
"You all go into DC?"
"No."
"Oh you should do DC, man, you all would make a killing!"
"No." -
Apple butter is great stuff.
You can also can pie filling, etc. You have a nice variety. Me, I like the tart ones...

Yeah, we're saving a few for pies. I'm also a fan of the tart ones—I hoarded a couple for oatmeal.
