Two Sides Do Not Exist

Bari Weiss’s view on this is basically correct. It’s the old guard liberals against the young woke progressives. Liberalism is losing. It was a sad moment.
I got a bit of inside scoop on this too, one of Bennet’s colleagues was at my house on Sunday (outside, safely distancing) when the news came out internally within the times.

What is funny is the woke view is basically ‘it’s irresponsible to publish this because it puts black lives in danger’.
By that logic there’d surely be no op-eds about defunding police.

At least the old liberals (according to the Prager piece I posted today) actually liked America.

It’s easy to understand why black journalists, who a generation ago didn’t get to run papers like the Times or anchor many television shows, are filled with anger and passion over the systemic racism that showed its ugly face with Floyd’s killing.
Even in this perspective from a person who finds the wokeness sad, we still see the baked in admission of this non-fact that the bad cop would never have done the bad thing to a person with white skin. And that single non-fact is the foundation for every bit of the social explosion that has resulted.

I'll bet the progression from the old liberals to the current progressives is vindication for lots of slippery slope arguments from the right over the decades. Not that the old liberal guard are going to spend any time reflecting on the extent to which they've been enablers all along.
