Do shoppers intentionally steal by not scanning some items or mostly unintentional errors and omissions when operating a piece of unfamiliar technology? The Wegmans in my area are considered “up scale” as far as grocery stores go and the Wegman shoppers are usually more affluent than other grocery store shoppers, so it’s harder to believe that the Wegman shoppers here would intentionally try to steal — if they want to spend less they only have to go to any of the many other grocery stores in the area, no need to steal and risk getting caught.

Again, you know nothing about human nature.

I don’t think that most democrats pay for groceries anymore. They just take what they need.

Im sure it is the first part. It is not that difficult, and maybe you make a mistake once, but you quickly learn. The stores that have self check always have an employee standing by to help. Just push a button and a light goes on to warm them and they come and help.

And I would think that most customers to a grocery store are repeat customers so the excuse of it being new technology doesn't really work.

They still utilize self checkout, they just don’t utilize the app. I never used it myself.
