Whether it's a banner year might depend on what's written on the banner.

Let me try to explain it to you then.
One side wants to turn us into a socialist state, eliminate our borders and allow people to flood in from everywhere. They want to eliminate the police, border patrol, the military, give everyone a free income without working for it, give free health care to everyone, they hate white people, think there are 2,750 different genders, want free baby killing available to everyone.
Yet you apparently are of the opinion that we would be just fine as a nation even if that all came to be.
With Biden, a lot of that WOULD be implemented at some level.
With Trump, none of that will happen. Whether you like the man or not, he has shot dead the notion that tax cuts, deregulation, etc harm the economy. He has shot dead the entire fucking argument made by the Left.
If you really can't figure this out then something is wrong with you.

@Larry I think the demand now for socialism is greater than 2016. It’ll probably be even higher in 2024.
Unless Trump is tamping down the desire for these things - he’s failing according to your own metrics.
(Unless you think there will be Trumps elected somehow into perpetuity)

Of course it is. Those of us who have sense enough to understand how this nation built itself won't be around much longer, and there will be yet another generation of shit for brains idiots becoming old enough to vote. Eventually, Socialism will win out, and America with everything it came to be will be gone. Within a decade or so, it will turn into just another 3rd worl country, most likely 3 separate ones, and people will be starving to death just like they are in Venezuela. It will be too late for those is us who tried to warn everyone to say I told you so though, we will be gone. By the next generation after that, the great nation standing here now will be just another mention in history books.
Weep for your children.

I say of course it is, but I'm not sure I believe that, actually. All the noise about Socialism is being made by a very vocal minority. There just may be enough people who still have functioning brains to go to war with the idiot Left. If they do, and then kick California end New York on up out, they m8ght save the nation.
But is Socialism becoming more popular?... nah.

I don't see how this business of Trump refusing to leave the office can be considered in any serious way. It's absurd on its face, to begin with. It's taking Orange Man Bad over the rainbow.
Do the people who worry about this think Trump could bring this off by himself? Do they think he'd find enough support inside the Beltway for doing this? Most of all, how do they think he would do the job of president? Do they think Congress would pay any attention to anything he says, simply because of a declaration? Do they think that's all that would be required? "I'm not leaving!" "Oh, okay then."
I'm not sure how much more weirding out I can take before my head shoots off my shoulders and flies around the room like a balloon, making that ph-h-h-h-t noise. .

As for my personal opinion - I think the quaint notion of Republicans and Democrats is disintegrating right before our eyes.
Social media has elevated to the "fifth estate" to a really strong spot. It's being cheered by many right now - not for long, I think.
This is a social and political change on the scale of the printing press - which helped foster the creation of the modern nation state as we know it (from a time when political power was more concentrated at the city level)
We're at the beginning of a wild ride - and most national governments are not set up to cope.
I don't think the Founding Fathers thought through what happens when the fourth estate doesn't work anymore.
But that's just my opinion.

You are failing to factor in a few things. For one, most of the "change being "elevated to the fifth estate" on social media consists of a bunch of simple minded kids who looked up from their game controller just long enough to tell mommy to make him a sammich and then regurgitate the same stupid shit his peers said because he wants to feel like he's fitting in with the rest. At some point this little shit for brains will have to put down the game controller and get a job. Once that happens at least half of them will grow up enough to figure out how stupid they were. Most of us here saw it happen in the late 60s. They were going to change the world too.
It is a royal fool who pines for the "creation of a modern nation". You're already sitting in the greatest nation the world has ever seen. That's why everyone else wants to come here. Concentrating political power at the city level to run an entire nation is about the dumbest thing I've heard today.

@Larry I must really suck at writing.
The printing press helped foster the nation state as a political construct.
Before that city-states were the dominant political entities.
As common languages and ideas solidified - common identity began to coalesce across cities into a nation.
Re-read what I said with that in mind.
I’m saying the nation-state as a concept is under threat from social media.
No one is trying to start a modern nation state or city state.

You're already sitting in the greatest nation the world has ever seen.
How does that square with the fact that the people in that "greatest nation" vote, often with a majority, for people who are according to you the greatest idiots on earth?
Will it still be the greatest nation if Biden wins?
