"Ms Palin, who was endorsed by Mr Trump, outspent her Democratic rival by four to one in the run-up to the 16 August election, according to Politico."
Money can't buy me love.

Crappy election system. The two Republicans canceled each other out.

On the positive side, Sarah Palin lost.

The winner will be in the seat until the fall election. After that, she has to run again.
Special elections are very different critters than regular elections.

If you look at the numbers, it seems like had this been a “normal” election process Palin would have won the primary and lost the general.

Yeah, if the other Republican’s supporters had listed Palin as their #2 she would have won. They didn’t. I don’t have an issue with these results.

Yep. The person who got 40% of the vote won.

Again based on the actual numbers the D would have won in a normal process.
You never know. 40% may have been her ceiling.

I don't know about over here, but in the UK they tend to disproportionately favour the party that is not in power, since the opportunity for a protest vote is a big factor.

And 30% was Palin’s. When secondary votes were taken into consideration the Democrat and up over 50% and Palin didn’t. The people spoke, and this is a legitimate decision. Over half of the voters said they didn’t want Palin…

The much bigger issue is that they were fighting for a seat that was held by one guy for 50 frigging years.
