A 56 year old dentist, actually the dentist of a friend of my wife's, was in the passenger seat of a car driven by her husband. They parked on the street to do some shopping, when another car pulled up alongside. Someone bolted out the back of that car, ran around to where the woman was getting out, pointed a gun at her and demanded her purse. She screamed, shots were fired, and the guy escaped. Just another day in Oakland. I wonder how many of these things happen before they make the news because someone got murdered. The news reports are turning it into an Asian hate crime, but it was probably more random than that.
