1967...
By the way the #1 song, "We're in Love," is actually "It Could Be We're in Love," by the Cryan Shames.
The 'Shames were a bunch of kids from a suburb just West of where I live. They were a majorly popular group in the Chicago area, and they were absolutely the best in close, tight harmony.

see my edit...
But, yeah. Mrs. George is convinced that no good music was written after 1970 or so.
Or for that matter, before 1950.
Guess what we listen to when we're in the car together?
(Hint, it ain't Schubert, and it ain't Kanye)

Whole lot of great tunes. Remember most of them.

It’s a cryan shame top forty lists like that don’t exist anymore. Mrs George is right but I would put the demise at 1975. I think that’s about Bruce Springsteen time.

Oh, some of the 80's stuff isn't bad. And I'll occasionally hear a new tune that's okay.
But for sheer volume of great songs, the older stuff from the late fifties until the early eighties has to be the best.

I could probably remember the lyrics to most of those.
I probably couldn’t even recognize a top 20 song of the last 15 years.
