Apple Inc. has been making it mandatory for hourly employees to have their bags checked before allowing them to leave work, yet refusing to pay them for the time they have to wait to have their bags checked. Lawsuit ensued, the judge characterized Apple's arguments as "far-fetched and untenable", now Apple Inc. is settling that lawsuit with $30.5 million.

Hey @Horace, talk to Tim about being nicer to the employees, would you? News like this about it short-changing its employees is really bad for the brand.

What an idiotic argument for a public image conscious company to make, over what must be tiny savings, if any. Of course you need to pay hourly employees if you're not allowing them to leave for any reason. Duh? This surprises me and I will take it up with Tim next time I see him, thanks for the note Ax.

Imagine the shrinkage that led to that bag search policy though. I bet word on the street is that getting a retail job with apple was the easier way to steal iPhones than the organized mob shoplifting sprees we've seen so many videos about.
