I'd never heard this.
“Thomas Jefferson once said, 'We should never judge a president by his age, only by his works.' And ever since he told me that, I stopped worrying.”

He had a glorious sense of humor and stellar delivery.
So did Bob Dole, by the way.

I've mentioned how much I enjoyed Dole's book, "Laughing (almost) All the Way to the White House."
Reagan's delivery, however, was better - actor, you know.

Reagan was very funny, and very likeable, even to those who didn't like his policies.
Call me Mr. Shallow if you will, but I honestly think it's one of the most important qualities a leader can have.

I remember Bob Dole cracking Clinton up during one of their debates in 96. I even remember the line.

I was semi joking about it being shallow.
I honestly don't understand why anybody wants to vote for such an unmitigated twat as Donald Trump. BoJo "Britain Trump" I understand - he can be a lot of fun, after all.

Because everybody who finds him funny and endearing is a difference species of human, incapable of being understood by the rest of us.

They don’t fall for Trump because he’s funny, they fall for him because he smites the people they resent.

Yeah, but that's preventative action, which I do understand, not enthusiastic support, of which there was a fair amount. Even here, in liberal Mass, there were loads of blokes (mostly blokes) blowing the horns of their pickup trucks and yelling support for the little Trump rally on the town common. We never had anything like that for Bush or Obama.
And sure, I'm stereotyping, but the rally was the most stereotypical thing I'd ever seen.

I wouldn’t necessarily put that in the plural.
