I don't think Sarah was a Larry creation though his relationship to her may have been enhanced without the benefit of recognition by the state.
Nor do I. In fact, Larry’s marriage to Sarah was very real. I have always maintained that marriage between two people is a state of mind that is expressed through the heart. They were undoubtedly husband and wife even if it was by common law. Nothing at all wrong with it.
Driving back home from BC earlier today the following came up on my iPod playlist in the truck. Immediately made me think of Larry:

Did you see Elvis (the movie or in person)? MS and I really enjoyed the movie.

The only known picture of "Larry."
It’s a good pic. I do believe this is Larry, based on a memory of a black & white pic him standing. He & I corresponded way back. He either sent me that B&W pic or it was posted in early TNCR. He appeared tall. I’ve a good memory. That little girl could well be the mom of Spider, Wednesday & Dagger (their real names btw). I wonder if the boy is Larry’s son. The one he spoke of here.

One of the most colourful stories Larry told was of a houseboat on a lake at night with water moccasins. I forget all his details. I just cringed at that because I full well remember living in AL, being at a lake once, then later learning of water moccasins and all the other slithering snakes down South.

Years ago I was FB friends with his daughter, who IIRC was named Whitney Smotherman, and I seem to remember his son in law was named Spider. But she's no longer on FB and I can't find any record of her, and my Covid fogged brain can't remember the details.

Yes, you're right about that -- Whitney might be Spider's mom. She was heavily inked. Nice and sweet gal. We never talked about Larry, but had some good chats on FB.

Larry won't be here this Christmas season to tell us about how he paid the bill at the grocery checkout for someone he thought might need the help during the holidays.
If I remember correctly, they weren't always grateful, but most were.
That was usually a nice Christmas story.
