Just thinking...
I was never a "fan." I would have never bought any of her music.
But, I "liked" her, and when her music came on the radio (remember that?) I would not have turned it off.

Interesting fact: Her grandfather was Nobel laureate Max Born, thesis advisor to Oppenheimer.

She was a “pop star” before Grease. In fact, she won a Grammy for best country female in 1973 and Best Female Pop Performance in 1974.

I was 5. But I suspect in (say) 1979 I knew she had albums out. It’s just that 40 years later I only remember Grease.

That era of pop music turned me off of music for the rest of my life. Or if it wasn't direct cause/effect, it was remarkably coincidental.

That video had a remarkable ending. First a red headed guy meant to seem attractive, then the surprise gay ending. Ahead of its time. But society will never advance far enough to consider red headed males acceptable.
