    Do you know this site?

    http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/hybrid_bikes.htm

CJQ (remember him?) recommended it to me. Said they're generic builds of decent quality and much cheaper than name brand. And CJQ (1) does his research and (2) looks for value.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

@jon-nyc I work with a guy who’s really into cycling- used to ride in the US nationals. He used them for his
last bike but recommended I use a local bike shop unless I really know what I’m doing and pay a bit extra for the personal service

      I was only joking

You're rolling the dice with the parts. Many of them are older and crap out more terribly and frequently than modern ones.

But yeah, I use bikes direct all the time. I have a grocery bike I bought for about $250. I've had to replace a couple of spokes and relube the BB but no big.

        Please love yourself.

Would this be a decent place for somebody like me that generally will ride a 5-mile round trip trek pulling a tot trailer 2-3 times a week and may have the occasional 10-15 mile bar crawl? I don't need anything great, but with a fairly decent core so if I get more serious I can take it to a local shop and have them kick it up a notch?

Eh, it very much depends. There are really not that many shortcuts. If a bike doesn't have brazeons for disc brakes, for example, you're not going to be able to install them. Same goes for the requirements for shifters, derailleurs, etc. You can only polish a turd so much.

But I mean, yeah, the bike will work, and you didn't have to spend a ton. Just know that if it starts giving you problems, it's not biking that's the issue. You just bought a cheap model and haven't fixed it.

Regarding a trailer, often times it's the cheaper bikes that are much more compatible with those. But DO check compatibility. For ours, it requires a thru-axle and a lot of clearance around the hub. My wife's bike has all of that. None of mine do.

            Please love yourself.

Didn't you buy a bike just recently?

What kind of bike do you want to buy?
