The two officers who were "accessories" to the George Floyd killing have been sentenced to 3 and 3,5 years. As I recall, both of them had just joined the force and their supervisor was directing them. I cannot imagine too many people inculcated into following directives and follow the lead of the supervising officer would have done anything different. And 3 year sentences? Wow. People have done a lot worse and gotten off with a lot less.

Know many cops?
One NYPD. One CPD. Lots in Gainesville FL where my sister works in the Department.

Don't you think most of those guys and gals could find a job do something else?

Nothing that would replace their expected retirement earnings.
Maybe not in NYC, not so much other places....

In FL they get a pension and retirement healthcare they would unlikely be able to match in the private sector

Maybe not. But what about the public sector? Florida has about 245,000 public employees.
