Nope… At least not where music study is concerned. There have been numerous studies where they have actually charted the change in new neural pathways being formed in children that study music. They have also shown how how plasticity improves through studying music. It’s not simple data subsets that confuses correlation with causation, there’s hard science backing it up.

In reference to the article, which looks at large samples of data and makes the point that if you test as average early in school, you will likely finish as average, even though you have received years of education. You know more, but you aren't more intelligent.
Can music increase measurable intelligence?

tl;dr
It always makes me a bit suspicious when people fill pages like that, and I'm far too lazy to figure out whether my suspicions are justified.
