What parts of this presidency would anybody approve of, if considered in isolation? Other than "he's not Trump", that list looks pretty empty.

“The only President in the last 5 years that didn’t try to end our democracy.”

Not a small thing, if you allow yourself to think about it.

I’ve thought about it and recognize the rhetorical value of framings from non-cult members.

Yes you have successfully established your unassailable pretension to an ability to conceive of politics and culture matters free from your own bias. Your ability to demonstrate that ability in specific discussions is lacking, but that’s where a lack of self awareness comes in handy.

    Education is extremely important.

@Horace You and only you have credited me with that.

Can a man be in two cults at the same time?

      One wonders.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Pretty sure it would be a common observation here that you consider others tribal and yourself clear headed and objective.

I am one of several here who recognize Trumpism (magatry) and wokeness are cancers on the body politic. One of several. Among that select group are those who traditionally voted Republican and those who traditionally voted Democratic, and some that aren’t US citizens so haven’t voted here.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

            OK, I'll bite.

What, in your mind, @jon-nyc , is "Trumpism?" I'm not sure I ever understood what that meant. I think I understand "wokeism," however.

I would probably agree with you mostly if you took the time to think through exactly what beliefs define “Trumpism”. But in the past, you have hand waved the definition and refused to make clear exactly what it means. And I have asked. I’d like you to have the opportunity to walk your walk of intellectual clarity.

                @George-K

You could probably shed some light on this, distinguishing Trumpism from traditional identification with the GOP.

Why were you not a Trump supporter in 2016?

What are your thoughts about how Trump handled himself in the months following his election loss?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

You, and others are the ones making that distinction.

What, in your view, is that distinction, and how is it different from the hatred of his personality (which I share, by the way)? What is "the traditional GOP", and how is it different from Trumpism? Leave personality out of it, if you can, and leave it at policy.

No, you referred to cults etc. And THEN, you said "Trumpism."

I simply asked for your definition. I don't have one, which is why I asked.

                          You said.

Why were you not a Trump supporter in 2016?

And this is, to my mind irrelevant, because the appellation of "Trumpism" certainly happened a long time before Jan 6, or the general election. Your question is one of personality vs policy.

What are your thoughts about how Trump handled himself in the months following his election loss?

                            Trumpism.

Multi-ethnic support. Populist. Pro Middle-class, particularly blue-collar. Low taxes. Strong military. Pro 2nd Amendment. Pro Freedom of Religion. Pro-business. Tariffs, if needed. Border security. Law & Order. Pro-life. Pro energy independence.

And willing and able to fight for all of the above, instead of being "nice", rolling over and playing dead.
