Brutalist. Still a huge piece of real estate. Fire escapes are nicely done.

The video is worth watching if only for the architecture of the building. When we were up there in 2019 they were doing similar things to the old post office on the river, also a gargantuan structure.

Second largest public health hospital at one time. Right at 3000 beds.
Cook County was larger.

Cannot say I like the post office, but I do like Cook County. Art Deco can be cool (see Union Terminal in Cincinnati) but it can also be lipstick on brutalism. The post office is one of those.
