Tonight's dinner - 4th of July edition

What could be more American than corn on the cob?
I made that in the microwave (in the husk - trust me, it's the best way).
What could be more American than...
French fries? Waffle-cut frozen fries in the air fryer.
What could be more American than...
Split-top hot dog buns. Into which went blue cheese, sauerkraut, Dijon mustard and .... bratwurst!
Happy fourth!

Rex Stout, creator of the famous detective Nero Wolfe, had his hero -- a topnotch foodie -- opine that corn on the cob should only be roasted in the husk, and that women who boiled it out of the husk in water should themselves be boiled in water.
@Catseye3 He was right.
I never understood the thinking behind putting corn on the cob on a grill.
All you're really doing it is heating it, and letting the moisture in the cob cook the corn through.
I do about two minutes per cob in the microwave, Cut off the "stem" end and squeeze the corn out from the other end, separating it from the host.
Perfect every time.
Link to videoBTW: using a serrated "bread" knife makes it easier to cut off the stem.

Was going to do fish tacos but the fish smelled a little off so out it went. Shrimp tacos it was, with corn on the cob and watermelon. Yum.
Then the fireworks in the neighborhood started and we went inside.
