I wasted 20 years of my life chasing utopian energy.

Utopian energy is an imagined form of energy that’s abundant, reliable, inexpensive, and also clean, renewable, and life-sustaining. But utopian energy is as much a fantasy as a utopian society. Seeking the fount of perfect energy allows us to pretend there aren’t real-world tradeoffs between, say, banning fossil fuels and helping people in impoverished nations or between using solar and wind power and conserving natural habitats.

For years, I chased utopian energy. I promoted solar, wind, and energy efficiency because I felt like I was protecting the environment. But I was wrong! Feeling like you’re doing the right thing doesn’t mean you are. I just couldn’t admit it. My sense of identity was tied to my false beliefs about energy—myths that blinded me to what really does—and doesn’t—help the planet.

    For the rest...

I'm guessing he's not an engineer.

Brian Gitt is an energy entrepreneur, investor, and writer.

No, he's not an engineer. By his own admittance, he's spent 20 years preaching about stuff he doesn't really understand. And presumably he's still doing it.

      I was only joking

My guitar setup guy is a believer in the Electric Universe. I keep going back, a little more frequently than needed, just to hear the stories.

        Please love yourself.

Although he never said it, one of my favorite surgeons was wondering about the existence of the "Electric Universe."

"Hey, this sorta makes sense, doesn't it?"

          He's also a big COVID anti-vaxxer.

          So there's that.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

It's my favorite conspiracy theory. There's no villain, people just don't understand how things actually work. And how things "actually work" is really good fun to hear about. Endlessly fun.

            Please love yourself.

In the 90's, I used to spend quite a bit of time on the old sci.physics Usenet groups.

There were some very odd theories put forward by a number of people who were convinced that they had it right where Einstein had it wrong.

Generally, there wasn't much math behind any of the theories, which possibly made them more attractive than the stuff you actually have to study.

After a while, it got a bit tiresome.

              I was only joking
