https://bit.ly/3gV5b14Thanks for the tip.
In another thread you commented that because something didn't appear on social media, it didn't happen. In fact, you said, you follow it closely, and since you didn't see it, the allegations about the "protestors" at St. John's were wrong, and it was all peaceful.
No, that's not what I'm saying. To clarify, my position is this:
(1) I believe I'm more informed than you about the events in DC. No, I'm not an expert and I have zero first-hand experience. None. (Although when I did, with the women's march right after the election, I was told here at TNCR that my being there made me biased and uninformed, so what the fuck ever.) But as you yourself admitted, you're not following it closely and you're reserving judgment. I've friends and coworkers downtown.
(2) I'm talking about the crowd overall, not 100% of everyone involved, including the comers and goers for that time period. Overall, yes, non-violent crowd on June 1 at 6:35 pm. It's wrong to say otherwise.
(3) The nights are a very different story. Hell hour by hour is often a different story. Yes there's a shitload of destruction and looting. There's nothing to argue about there because the news has made that very obvious. What it seldom makes as obvious are protests without incident, and people keeping it peaceful. Peaceful is boring and not worthy of report.
(4) Honestly I think what it is here is "I've never protested. So I don't identify with doing that. Therefore, bad people." It's the same thing for ACAB: no one with family members in the police would ever say that.

So, your statement is based on your beliefs, not on facts. Okay.

It is the job of the Secret Service to mitigate ALL threats to POTUS at ALL times. Not the majority, not 99%. All threats. According to the Chief of Police, who I assume you think is lying, those threats existed. Yeah, maybe it was 10%. Maybe it was 1%. That’s an unacceptable risk.

Of course it is. But I’m not talking about the general picture. I’m talking about what the Chief commented on at 6:33 PM. Bottles and other objects thrown. You claim he was lying based on your exploration of social media. You can’t concede that what your exploration revealed might be incomplete, and you imply he was lying?
(4) Honestly I think what it is here is "I've never protested. So I don't identify with doing that. Therefore, bad people."
Good comment, but irrelevant to what we’re talking about - specifically St. John’s.

Really? We're going to do that?

Had they started clearing the crowd out earlier, very strong chance there'd have been no controversy. See my comment about the botched communication from the White House to the law enforcement officers. Include the Secret Service in that.

Guy says something happened and it negates everything I've seen and heard. Everything. And during a series of events where police officials have destroyed windows and their own squad cars so that they can pin it on the protesters. I can absolutely concede that I might be wrong about St. John's on June 1, but I'm not going to. Yes, I trust what I've heard and saw over what that guy said. It's a judgement call backed by more evidence than your position, which is only backed by what he's saying.

The truth be told I do suspect the particular events around the clearing of the park yesterday. It smells unprovoked.

Security for the President is essential.
Imagine if Trump were assassinated!
Half the country would erupt in cheers, the other half would kinda shrug, go online, virtue signal about how many guns they have and how they'll take them out and THIS TIME they really really mean it. Or something like that.
There would be a funeral, and hardly any world leaders would attend. Geez, embarrassing.
And how would Trump be remembered?
Guess.

I do think that the protesters fail to realize that they're actually in the next election: they're going to win or lose votes based on how they handle all this. It seems many of them still have Hillary syndrome; "we're so in the right that we don't have to try to win any support, because everyone who disagrees is prejudiced and dismissable." Big mistake.

You know what I think? All of you need a project. You need to work on something that keeps you occupied mentally and physically for the next week. Catch the news for 30 minutes. Limit your other screen time to no more than an hour per day (unless it’s for work, but then focus only on work). Forget about this crap for a few days...

Yeah, I'm already on my way to doing that.

I can multitask. Hang a radio on my scarecrow, and pick away while listening to El Rushbo...
