My brother just posted this morning that something has to be done about the undemocratic Senate. It shows an utter ignorance of the Constitution and the history of how it was created.
Now, in my view, the Senate might be, next to the separation of powers and the electoral college, the biggest piece of genius in the Constitution.
We don't have a democracy. We have a representative republic. I wish we would go back to state legislatures deciding on the senators.

We, as a nation, need to take a very hard look at civics programs in our schools. No student, home schooled, private schooled or public schooled, should be able to get a high school diploma without at least knowing what their state constitution says, the history and meaning of the U.S. Constitution, and the basics about the three branches of government, including how the funding mechanism works and how bills become law.

No. I'm still not sure direct election of Senators by the citizenry is a good idea. Yeah, appointments can lead to graft, etc., but I'm not sure that that wasn't a better way.

Isn't it funny how when that canard is brought up, everyone mentions Wyoming and omit Rhode Island, and Delaware?
