One poll. Very early.

But still. Is this something?
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is now statistically tied with Former President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire Republican Primary. Support for DeSantis has more than doubled since October. DeSantis runs better against Biden than does Trump, a further sign of Trump’s weakening support among NH Republicans. Biden and Trump are increasingly unpopular in New Hampshire and only about half of members of each of their own parties want them to run for President in 2024. Other potential 2024 presidential candidates such as Vice President Kamala Harris, former Vice President Mike Pence, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz are also broadly unpopular in the state.

In terms of philosophy, I really don't see much difference between DeSantis and Trump. Surely there are minor differences in policy.
But in terms of personality, it's, I dare say, yuge.

Problem is the Dems have no bench. Any viable Democrat could beat Trump in 24, but they don't have one. The geriatric set won't get out of the way and they have eaten their young.

It's way too early. But pollsters need to eat, too.

If Mr. DeSantis can behave himself he will have an advantage.
I would like to see a polite candidate.

President Trump will tease and tease and tease about running.
It will be interesting to see if he does run, because I think, like @mik , a lot of republican people also are tired of him.
But, ultimately, I don't think he will run. His ego is too big for him to accept losing. And it would be hard for him to claim that the democrat stole the primary.

Trump and his good friend Tom Brady have a lot in common. World class winners, too old to keep winning but unwilling to stop trying. Also, both are good looking, with good looking wives.

He’ll run. We know not just from 2020 but with the popular vote in 2016 that he’s fully capable of losing without ever having to accept it, so that’s not really an issue.

Wouldn't another Trump presidency be fun?

The country goes nutz in a Trump presidency. It’s interesting to watch from a detached perspective but a little scary if you’re in the trenches having to get along in TDS dominated cultures. But if everything is remote, it’s easier. Only the few proclamations of outrage and mutual tribal identification during meetings, which one can nod and ignore.
