So, now is has a dilemma. If the police are defunded as she probably wants, she has no one to sue. Therefore, no money.

@taiwan_girl She's suing the state that funds the state patrol. If it were a city police force, she'd sue the city. In either case, she's suing a taxpayer-funded unit of government. I hope she fails to get any financial award or settlement.

Actually the only public servant expected to risk their lives in the line of duty are military. Others, like police or fire fighters, are understood to have jobs that place them in riskier situations, but they are explicitly not expected to make conscious decisions that put their lives at risk in order to save someone else.
