I know several guys, of whatever race, married to filipina women. For the vast majority, they have been good and long-lasting marriages.

    Why?

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Americanized women are pretty screwed up in the head as compared to women from many other countries. I'm sorry to report that. It has a lot to do with the expectations of perfection in relationships. As humans go, our emotions aren't about our circumstances so much as they're about how our circumstances compare to our expectations.

      Education is extremely important.

One of my best bosses was a Filipina woman. Very groovy and easy-going, but when it came to bullshit, she shut that shit RIGHT down.

        Please love yourself.

“Divorce” is illegal In the Philippines, despite the majority of Philippinoes supporting its legalization.

Ergo, the secret to happiness is low expectation.
Corollary: if you want your children to be happy, teach them to have low expectations.

That is so hard to explain, but so easy to understand. Horace is correct. But it goes much deeper. I've tried 3 times now to explain it, for my 4th attempt I'll just tell you about my wife.

Sarah was born in Butuan Province, the daughter of a tenant rice farmer. One sister, two brothers. After she finished high school she moved to General Santos to attend college to become a registered nurse. After college and a couple of years work, she came to the US on a work visa. She did this all on her own. She became a US citizen, all on her own. No "boyfriend", nothing. Just a solid work ethic, a strong set of values, and a desire to take care of her parents financially. When i met her she was working as an RN at a large hospital in Knoxville.

Filipinas aren't all the same, just like women anywhere aren't all the same. When you run into a bad one, she's a bad one. But when you meet a good one...... wow.....

My wife is my best friend. She is utterly, totally committed to our relationship, with making their man feel that deep down in his soul being one of the reasons marriages to them last. She loves me deeply, in a way that most American women have forgotten how to do. I am her world, she makes sure I know it, and God help anyone who tries to mess with that. She is 100% feminine. Not a "feminist" - feminine... another thing most American women have forgotten.

I am in awe of her because of her character and class.

From a status quo of unrealistic expectations, it may be wise to encourage more realistic expectations.

In our little piano forum community, we've seen at least three guys get blindsided by divorces in marriages they were happy with and they thought were going well.

Not going to talk about Fillipino vs US woman, but I think that one "advantage" Filipino women have over other foreign women is that most have a pretty good understanding of English language.

I see it in Thailand - there will be a farang (foreigner) with a local girl. He does not speak Thai, her English is minimal. Not sure how that relationship can work very well.
