Safest way to sell a computer.
-
I have an old iMac that I want to get rid of. Looking at offers from these "we buy electronic" places, I can certainly do better elsewhere.
Of course eBay is an option, but after fees, etc., it's only marginally better than the outfits I mentioned.
So, I'm thinking about Facebook Marketplace.
But...
I really don't want people traipsing through my house to check out the computer. When I've sold stuff on FB in the past, I'd meet them at a safe location, like in front of the police station, and we'd complete the sale. For electronics, they could verify that the device works.
But...
With an all-in-one computer, that's tough. So, we need to find a place where the buyer can test it out to make sure it works before purchase.
Suggestions?

George is right. A Mac user wouldn't be caught dead in a Starbucks.

This is what puts me off selling a lot of stuff. We end up giving it away to charity shops to avoid having people coming round.

Or the hassle generally. It took me two forays into the community yard sale experience with a car full of boxed stuff to convince me to just toss it thereafter.
Community yard sales are kind of weird anyway. People strolling around, looking for bargain crap that's slightly less crappy than their own crap -- and quite often seeking to shave the price. I'm like, "This thing is priced at two dollars and you're lobbying to save a quarter? Get a life."
Depressing.

LOL.
Someone suggested the local library. I just sent them a message asking if that's a possibility.

the local library
"We do not have a policy on this and can not prevent you from meeting someone in the library. However we can not assume any responsibility for any transaction that takes place and would prefer that the transfer of money take place outside the library building. You can test computer in here but take sale out. Thank you
