      Kudos to you and hubby for an excellent job!

      And many thanks for your painstaking post showing and explaining it all.

      Very elegant! You should call it the Duck Fountain -- calm and serene up top, churning like crazy underneath.

        You are the person to really appreciate the plumbing technology hubby used. It's not quite traditional, but it really works well.

        I should clarify that the float in the reservoir really is intended for ponds, not toilets, but it looks just like the ones you see in toilet tanks. Being made for an outdoor use, it's a bit more beefy.

          We could call it the Lazy Fountain, too. Once it's installed and fully set up, it takes care of itself for filling and running.

          You are correct that it's very calm and serene. It makes thin sheets of water on the bluestone tiers that gently drop to the floor. It splashes just a tiny bit out to the granite pavers, and is rather quiet, but it's nothing like a typical fountain that has a huge splash area and is noisy.

                  @Copper Copper, I thought of you this morning while installing brick edging for the boxwood hedge plant bed and the fountain plant bed.

                  There's more to do. How soon can you fly here to help?

                    I would have fun building that. I'm not a very talented plumber, but I can dig holes.

                        That's exactly what I need! Someone to help dig. Get here as soon as you can, and let me know when to pick you up at the local airport. 🙂

                          Thank you. It's not a traditional fountain, but it goes well with our house and will appeal to the small birds that do not like deep water. That's just right for our birds.

                            @Friday

                            Here is the video, Friday, and it's very short.

                            I think I will increase the water flow rate just a little bit. It would still be a trickle fountain, and not too splashy. The water is coming out through the lions' mouths as it should, but that would be increased with a stronger flow.

                            I got much of the brick edging redone, and just need to redo the section I removed for the forklift to reach close enough to the site for the fountain. This is why the experts always say to install the hardscape before the landscape. LOL

                            Now I need Copper here to help me finish the last part of the brick mower edging by the front boxwoods. I know he will be wonderful at that. Then he and I can plant some things that just arrived today for various locations around the house. I have 9 roses to plant and some lilies. I might see if the lilies could be planted by the fountain, though that wasn't the intent when I ordered them.

                            I could spend all my time in the yard planting and taking care of plants. I even enjoy pruning and spraying my roses. How did this happen? I never pictured liking this so much.
