Without the religious belief that the other side is racist and thus evil? Circa nobody would vote for her. With that religion? Well, we see the numbers of people who vote for her. The left’s messaging is hugely powerful in this country.

The key is having a bunch of people all run against her, none of whom stand out - and then she wins. For all practical purposes the GOP doesn't exist in Chicago. Thus, the Democratic primary determines the next mayor.
