MIL broke her hip last night. This is the X-ray result. Can you shed any light? I know the first is pretty common in the elderly, but the rest of it is Greek to me. 91 years old. They are evaluating whether she can withstand surgery.
Bones: There is a subcapital left femoral neck fracture. There is superior displacement of the diaphysis producing a varus deformity. There is external rotation of the diaphysis.

@Mik just radiologic Mumbo jumbo jargon describing a typical femoral fracture.
The fracture causes the leg to be eternally rotated. Usually fixed with a pin with regional anesthesia.
What’s more concerning than the fracture is that often this can be a prelude to other medical and/or mental issues. DVT. Pneumonia. Delirium. She needs good nursing care above and beyond the bone fixers.
It’s a common problem. Just need to be on the ball.
