Sort of reminds me of what @Larry said years ago. A real artist can do whatever he wants in whatever medium, because that's his skill, his talent. What he chooses to do might be something completely unrelated.
He was talking about an artist known for blues/soul whatever music. But, when Larry saw him, he was mixing down a country album and doing a hell of a job of it.
I might have the genres wrong, but you get my drift...right?

You have it correct. Isaac Hayes was in one room mixing down a cry in your beer country song, and further down the hall was a cry in your beer country artist ( the kind that wore sequined suits on stage) doing some hard rock...
