So you use your electric log splitter to make logs you can burn in the fireplace and reduce your reliance on electric heat.

Um, yeah. Why not? I've spent a couple of afternoons splitting logs (when we had the Cheddarshack), and considering how blister-inducing and exhausting it can be, I really have no problem with this. Besides, in 30 minutes, you could split enough lumber for at least a couple of evenings.

I love this think.. splitting is easy with this, no blisters and back breaking work, but no fancy motorized machines
Just a clever contraption which makes splitting easy.
Before firing up the wood burning stove, three minutes of splitting and I have nice size split wood for the burn.
