Ripple Effects

This is an excerpt of a post made on another forum I frequent. The person writing this has a small courier business, mostly transporting documents like titles, etc.
Well I noticed a HUGE upswing in documents in the last two weeks. Especially delivery permits and receipts for same I also noticed that each plant had ramped up production on a significant scale. Even leasing nearby properties to park finished mobile homes on. Some were shipping out around 10 to 12 daily and are now moving 20 to 30 daily
Yesterday I was off work at the school so I had time to drive up early and talk with the man in charge of it all where I pick up paperwork.
He told me that they are trying to pump out as many homes as possible and get them shipped everywhere they need to go. He is looking for 80 new drivers between 6 plants. Its that big of a rush.
Theyre doing this because they are fully expecting to end up ceasing all operations for several mos when diesel gets scarce in the coming weeks. It has already been a bad time for them due to lumber being so crazy. 32k single wides listing for 80k and up. I saw my first 100k SINGLE WIDE yesterday. 3 years ago that would have been a 33k single wide.
So when diesel hits the magic number or becomes scarce they will have to temporarily halt production because they can not take the cost of the fuel to deliver them to dealers and they feel the price of new ones has already maxed out and know they cannot recoup the cost through raising the price of the homes.
Each of these plants employ around 500 people. Just in production. This does not include all the drivers and their crews. This also does not include people like me. So I will lose 1k a week until things get back to normal. Just this one company I would guesstimate will be stopping work for around 5500 people just in this area. Not counting the plants they have elsewhere

People need to ask some hard questions...
- Why aren't we building or expanding refineries?
- Why do we have more stringent requirements for diesel passenger vehicles than Europe?
- Why are we not selling drilling leases?
- Why was the Keystone Pipeline shut down?
For the Greenies:
- Why aren't we building nuclear plants?
- Why haven't we taken a harder look at slow-turbine hydro plants?
- Why won't you support hydrogen vehicle research?
- Water us becoming a huge problem in the West. Why not focus your solar power on desalination?
